Overview and Background
Mobile Payment for AirREGI allows customers to pay by scanning a QR code. To date, the system has been introduced in a variety of stores, including major apparel brands, electronics retail stores, and lodging facilities.
To make payments easier for Chinese visitors (and in anticipation of the 2018 Chinese New Year), Watami Corp. has decided to sequentially introduce Mobile Payment for AirREGI, which supports Alipay, to a total of 216 restaurants across four business sectors, including the Japanese restaurant "Watami" nationwide.
This service will make it easier for Chinese customers to use commercial facilities by allowing them to pay using Alipay, just as they do in mainland China.
Stores only need to have the Mobile Payment for AirREGI application downloaded on an iOS device, and an internet connection to introduce payment services, such as Alipay, without incurring initial costs.
Recruit will continue to promote the introduction of Mobile Payment for AirREGI in various areas and contribute to improving settlement services for Japanese and foreign customers.
