Overview and Background
Mobile Payment for AirREGI is a mobile payment service that allows customers to complete their payments by scanning a QR code of the payment service presented by the customer. Today, Mobile Payment for AirREGI has started handling WeChat Pay, which has a large share of the QR payment market in China. This partnership will further improve convenience for both merchants and users.
Various payment methods, including QR code payments, are expected to become increasingly diverse in the future. This is supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry’s announcement of the Cashless Vision (a policy aiming for a cashless ratio of two-to-five by June 2025 and eventually reaching the highest level internationally of 80%), as well as the launch of a council to study the unification of QR code-based payment standards. Mobile Payment for AirREGI can be supported by an iPad or iPhone, eliminating the inconvenience associated with payment and contributing to increased sales and satisfaction from customers in Japan and overseas.
