Recruit Co., Ltd., an intermediate holding company of Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., announced today that on July 30, 2020, AirREGI Handy, an order entry system that makes ordering, cooking, and serving food easier, will offer a self-ordering feature. This capability allows restaurant customers to conveniently place orders from their own smartphones.

    Background of the development

AirREGI Handy has been helping dining clients reduce the hassle of ordering, cooking, and serving food so that they can focus on hospitality. In developing the service, Recruit heard from many dining clients that they have trouble managing their business due to the chronic labor shortages in the food and beverage industry, leading to decreased customer satisfaction and lost sales opportunities. "Not having enough staff to respond to customer calls" and "waiting so long that customers are sometimes refused entry”are just two of the issues caused by these shortages that Recruit is trying to solve.

Furthermore, most recently, due to the spread of COVID-19, dining clients are strongly urged to take voluntary measures with the “New Lifestyle” guidelines to prevent infection. In response to these measures, Recruit has received increased requests to reduce the risk of droplet infection through face-to-face ordering and physical menus.  Recruit wanted to quickly support clients by creating a safe and secure dining feature in line with the “new normal.”

    Values to restaurants

    1. Reduce the frustration of waiting for customers’ order
Self-ordering increases customer satisfaction and eliminates complaints such as "no response despite multiple calls” or long wait times.

    2. Reduce the loss of ordering opportunities and increase sales per customer
Customers can place an order when they want by using their smartphone, reducing opportunity loss and increasing profit per customer.

    3. Reduce labor costs without lowering the quality of customer service
Staff can use the service right away, with no training required. Ordering is also made incredibly easy.
Even with a small staff, dining clients can focus on hospitality.

    4. Aids in preventing infectious diseases
Since contact opportunities decrease, it is also effective as a measure against infectious diseases, giving both customers and staff a sense of security.

    Overview of self-ordering feature

Self-ordering is a stress-free experience that allows customers to place orders from their smartphones by scanning the QR code*1 at the restaurant. There’s no need to download a special app or register in advance. This process allows staff to focus more on customer service than ever before.

    About AirREGI Handy:

AirREGI Handy is an order-entry system that makes ordering, cooking, and serving food easier. The service was launched in April 2018 and has been installed in restaurants of various cuisines.

AirREGI Handy can be used with AirREGI, a free, easy-to-use POS register application, and Restaurant Board, a free reservation ledger application to help attract and serve customers. By combining the Restaurant Board ledger application with AirREGI Handy, dining clients can streamline tasks that were difficult to do manually, such as seating, order entry, order transmission, and accounting, and improve the quality of service for customers. Recruit’s clients say that with the system, "even staff with no part-time experience in restaurants can use it from the very first day" and that it "dramatically reduces order errors.”

Recruit will continue to support clients in creating their dream stores.
